Tell Me More about Site-Lock™!

Your Personalized Future World site and all the other Future World cloned sites on the Net are protected by "Site-Lock™", a software security protocol that links each visitor to the first Future World site they visit for their entire session on-line. So, if you visit your site first, and then back up to simply "future-world.com", which is the generic (non-personalized) version of the site, you will still see your personalized site information at the top of the home page, and still see your Comm number embedded into the copyright block of most pages.

Even if you were to try to visit 50 (or more) other valid personalized Comm sites, the personalization information that you see will still be yours, because the "Site-Lock™" links visitors to the first Future World site they visit, insuring that all Comms who visit your site at your invitation won't wander off to someone else's Future World site and unwittingly give credit to some other Comm for your recruitment efforts.

However, Site-Lock™ can work against you in a few unusual instances. Future world's generic site at: future-world.com is NOT Site-Lockedi™. So, visiting this site first doesn't do any locking. But, because ALL other Future World sites ARE Site-Lock™-protected, if you visit someone else's site first, either deliberately or by accident, (by mis-typing your account number, for example) then this is the only site that particular computer will be able to see. No matter what account number you, or anyone else enters later, the Future World site displayed will default to the original site visited.

This won't be a problem 99.9% of the time, as long as you type in your account number carefully the very first time you visit your site. But, if you mis-type your account number, or enter someone else's, it's a little like losing your only key. You're going to need a locksmith. Just send the webmaster an email message at: webmaster@future-world.com and we'll help you unlock your personal computer so that it can again view your site.

Do keep in mind that meanwhile, everyone else in the world who types in your URL addressURL address correctly will continue to see yeur site, regarless of what site your own personal computer is currently Site-Locked™ to. In large cities, we have noticed that the computers at public libraries may already be locked to a particular Future World site, because a prior computer user typed in a Future World site and an account number other than yours. But, there are few other occasions (other than mistyping) when Site-Lock™ causes any problems. One such occasion is "recloning" a Future World site on a computer that is already correctly locked to your current Future World account site. As you might imagine, after reading this article, we strongly advise against this, whether recloning just to show a friend how it works, or just doing it to see what will happen. What WILL happen is that you will be locked into this new site, and locked out of your current site. We can't keep you from recloning. We can only advise that you avoid doing this.

When you log-off the Internet, using a computer that has visited only your catalog showroom site, (such as a computer at the public library), Site-Lock™ will reset itself within 12 hours or less, allowing another visitor to visit another Future World site with a different account number. 12 hours is long enough to ensure that any one visit to your site, or any pending order for merchandise from your site is completed. This is the express purpose of Site-Lock™, to prevent wandering or surfing to other sites and placing all or part of an order for merchandise on a site other than yours. Site-Lock™ also discourages hacking, email address harvesting, and other undesireable activities. Because it is in place, Site-Lock™ causes most visitors to your site to believe that you have the only Future World site in existence (which is exactly what we want them to think). If they find a reference to someone else's Future world site in a search engine, for example, trying to visit that other Future World site will take them to your site instead. It's almost magic.

However, if you have an active Future World account, Site-Lock™ initiates an even higher level of security to ensure that you, and only you can access your confidential "counter" or statistics site with your private password. Once you have done this, Site-Lock™ provides continuous protection, never resetting. You can mistype your account number or even leave it out altogether and Site-Lock™ will continue to take you to all your Future World sites correctly. So, take care the first time you enter your counter site. Type everything correctly. And, after that, you can relax and let Site-Lock™ take care of things on all subsequent visits.

If you make a mistake or find yourself in the wrong site, remember two things:

(1) Site-Lock™ is only affecting what your computer sees, not what all the other computers in the world see. Even if you are not seeing your site correctly at the moment, anyone else who types in your site address correctly will see your showroom or cloneme site. You can easily demonstrate this by accessing your site on another computer.

(2) The technical support staff at Future World will be glad to help you release the incorrect lock so that you can again see your site correctly. Just send us an email and we'll respond with step-by-step instructions.
